Weeds are coming on fast now and there are several methods to get control.

1. Cultivate with a hoe or small pototiller every 10-15 days. You can apply a pre-emergent after the area is weed free. This should give 4-6 weeks of protection againt most weeds.

2. Add mulch such as dry grass clippings 4-6 inches deep. This will keep the garden plants moist and somewhat weed free.

3. Use a barrier such as layers of newspapers, black polyethylene film, or landscape fabric between the rows You can hold the barrier down with grass clippings etc. from your compost bin.
